Shijiazhuang Xinlu Technology Co., Ltd. – Technical Overview of Rapeseed Processing Line
Rapeseed processing is primarily focused on the production of vegetable oil and high-protein animal feed meal. A modern rapeseed processing line, therefore, is engineered to efficiently prepare the seed for oil extraction while maximizing the quality and value of both the oil and the by-product meal. Shijiazhuang Xinlu Technology Co., Ltd. designs these lines to handle the small, round seeds, focusing on thorough cleaning, proper conditioning, and efficient prepressing.
The line begins with pre-cleaning and storage. Harvested rapeseed contains a significant amount of impurities like pod fragments, stems, dust, and weed seeds. Initial cleaning using vibrating screens and aspiration systems removes these to protect downstream equipment and improve storage stability. Cleaned seed is stored in silos with proper aeration.
Fine cleaning and conditioning follow. The seed is passed through more precise air-screen cleaners and specific gravity stoners to achieve a high purity level, essential for producing clear oil and quality meal. The cleaned seed then enters a conditioning stage. Here, it is heated and its moisture content is adjusted using steam conditioners or stack cookers. This thermal treatment serves several vital functions: it ruptures oil cells within the seed to facilitate oil release, coagulates proteins to improve meal handling, and deactivates enzymes (like myrosinase) that can degrade oil quality and produce unwanted flavors.
The conditioned seed is then flaked by passing through heavy-duty flaking mills. Flaking creates thin, uniform flakes, dramatically increasing the surface area for more efficient oil extraction in the subsequent steps. The flakes are then cooked in a series of heated, stacked trays or vertical cookers to further optimize moisture and temperature for oil extraction.
The pre-pressing stage is a key feature of many rapeseed lines. The cooked flakes are fed into a mechanical screw press (expeller). This press applies high pressure to extract a substantial portion (typically 50-70%) of the oil, producing a partially de-oiled solid material called "cake." Pre-pressing is beneficial as it reduces the load on the subsequent solvent extraction plant and can be used as a standalone method for smaller operations.
The final stage is cooling and meal handling. The hot cake from the press is broken and cooled in a cake breaker and cooler to a safe temperature for storage or for direct sale as a high-protein animal feed ingredient. If the line is part of a larger solvent extraction facility, the cake is then conveyed for further oil removal. Shijiazhuang Xinlu Technology Co., Ltd. designs these lines with a focus on energy efficiency, process control for consistent conditioning, and robust equipment to handle the continuous, high-tonnage processing characteristic of the oilseed industry.
